to insurance from Southern Cross Travel Insurance.

Information about plans and premiums
Southern Cross Travel Insurance is one of New Zealand’s most recognised and trusted
travel insurance companies. We have more than 20 years experience and provide a
range of specialised insurance products, including International Student insurance.
Our StudentMax plan provides comprehensive medical, travel, baggage
and personal items cover at a cost of $456 for 12 months.
Our StudentEssentials plan has the same medical and travel cover
as the StudentMax policy, but does not include cover for baggage and personal items,
at a cost of $300 for 12 months. Students can choose to cover individual
items up to $5,000 for an additional premium.
Both plans cover unexpected events such as doctor’s visits, prescriptions and hospitalisation
expenses and even medically necessary optometrist, chiropractor, acupuncture and
dermatologist visits.

How to arrange insurance
We aim to provide the highest level of service by making the application process
straightforward and by aiming to process applications the same day they are received.
Once your school is set up to sell International Student insurance, you are able
to arrange insurance using one of 3 options. We will work with you to establish
the easiest option for you. The options are:
- Paper based application forms; or
- We can provide you with a password to arrange a student’s policy
on our online system; or
- You can enter the students details onto our Excel spreadsheet template and email
it to us for processing.
You can make changes to the insurance cover, such as a start date amendment or a
change in name or policy duration, by contacting your account manager.
If you prefer, your school can be invoiced at the end of each calendar month for
policies arranged.
Your dedicated account manager is your one contact point for any queries you have
about your students’ insurance cover, claims and any special circumstances. Our
trained Contact Centre are also available to help you.
Emergency assistance for your students
24 hours a day, seven days a week from anywhere in the world, just one phone call
to +64 9 359 1602 (reverse charge) puts you or your students in touch with people
who can help.
If one of your students has an emergency or gets sick, Southern Cross Worldwide
Assistance can ensure that they receive the right medical treatment. If necessary,
we can organise for parents to come to New Zealand, or for the student to be flown
back to their home country.
Our emergency assistance helps to take some of the worry out of stressful times.
Commission for your school
We realise that arranging insurance for your students does take some time, even
when the process is very straightforward. As compensation for your efforts, commission
is payable to your school for policies arranged. This money can be used as extra
income for the school, to provide a discount for the international students, or
a combination of both – it’s your school’s choice!
For commission to be paid, you need to sign a contract allowing you to be an agent

Travel insurance for staff at your school
Southern Cross Travel Insurance offers a variety of travel insurance products so
when staff travel overseas, we can offer them the reassurance of comprehensive travel
cover. We can also help with travel insurance for in-bound groups visiting New Zealand.
This might include visiting family and friends of your students or staff, or educational
professionals.
